Rachel Nead is a professor of Communication at Southwestern College where she started as a part-time faculty member in 2011 and was hired full-time in June 2018. She previously taught at California State University Fullerton, Chapman University, Riverside City College, Santiago Canyon College, and Central Texas College.
Rachel is a doctoral candidate in the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education, Organizational Change Leadership, Ed.D. program. Her dedication to her field is evident in her dissertation research, which delves into intercultural communication competence, culturally responsive practices, and leadership styles.
Rachel received her Associate of Arts in Speech from Long Beach City College, double Bachelor of Arts in Communication (with an emphasis in Photojournalism), and Speech Communication from California State University, Fullerton, and Master of Arts in Speech Communication from California State University, Fullerton. She has certificates and training in areas including, but not limited to, humanizing online teaching and learning, equity and culturally responsive teaching, work-based learning, and a certificate in community college teaching.
